Sports!

We had a pretty busy spring this year.  (Yah I know, it's halfway through summer already, I just said, it's been BUSY)
All 3 older kids had Spring Sports and they ALL had games on Mondays and Wednesdays.  So as 2 parents, we were pulled in 3 different directions.  I usually went to Coco's soccer games with Carter in tow and when she finished I usually went late to whichever big kid had a home game.  Daddy was the token away games driver.  Whoever had a game in Beausejour or Landmark or Transcona got to go with Dad.  Needless to say, we rarely were all sitting and watching someone play.  The odd time, Jayme had a Sunday game or Brady had a Friday game and then we would be able to go as a whole family.
Jayme's team entered the provincials again this year and they proudly won SILVER!!  That was such a fun weekend and the Girls from the East were in town and so her cousins and Auntie got to come watch her play.
As a windup for Brady's team, they got to go to a Goldeye's game and go on the field with the team in the position that they played.  Brady was 3rd base, just like Dad :)
We enjoy getting out and being active when the weather turns nicer, so busy as it was, we loved it!

From Pinterest to Reality

I like Pinterest, it's a pleasant time waster absorber :)
I like looking for new recipes and fun and cute organizational ideas and patterns.  However I do find it a bit overwhelming.  And probably not very useful if all I do is pin things then never look at them again.  So I'm trying to move from Pinterest into reality...

Here's the original pin.  I decided to make this as Jayme's birthday cake this year.  Super pretty and super yummy!

 And another one...
Here is the original pin.  And by the way, these squares are SOOO easy and SOOO very amazing.  I would caution you to only make them if you're going to have people over to help you eat them, or you may eat the whole pan by yourself (NOT that I am speaking from experience or anything!!)

Now I'm off to pull out my crochet stuff to try out another one!!

10 on 10

Ten things I'm lovin' on this tenth of June:

1.      Starting the month out with these 2.  What a blast we had.  So much laughing, playing, visiting, eating, baby-snuggling… It was a great family time.
2. Letting this boy be outside.  The whole family really; when you live in Winnipeg, expanding outdoors is a treat every spring.  And this year, with a slow in coming Spring, we are appreciating being outside more than ever!

3.   These flowers… and my whole yard this year.  Each year that we’ve lived here I’ve done more and more to make our yard “ours”.  I’ve learned so much and I actually enjoy it!

4.     Almost daily walks.  Evenings are still tricky for Carter, so taking him for a walk calms him and occupies him and bonus exercise for me!

5.  I have a pink tree in the front yard.  Just for a few weeks each year, this picture was taken laying on a blanket on the lawn.

   6.  This girl, and our last month of Kindergarten, don’t even get me thinking about Grade One… full days make me sad.

7.  The amount of lovin’ this guy gets.

  8.  This room.

    9.  Brothers and Sisters.

10.  This picture of these four, I think it’s my current fave.

Diary of a Six Month Old

I've been around for half a year!  Crazy!
If you missed my last post, check it out
here.
Lots has happened in 6 short months.  I've gotten bigger for one thing, lost all that  "newborn-ness".

I've been places... since I was born, we've gone to Fargo, Morden, Manhattan, and all the way to Edmonton.  That was a long drive, they'd take me out, feed me and throw me right back in the seat!  2 days of that nonsense!

I sure like the crazy gang that live with me.  Someone always wants to hold me or talk to me or make me laugh with some kind of silliness.  It's fun, I like it.

Mommy has started shoving a spoon into my mouth.  Not an empty spoon, but one filled with mush.  I usually just spit it out, or else just clamp my little lips together until she gets the point and gives up.  Sometimes she puts little O's on my tray and I'll give those a go... but those tricky little things are hard to get to the right spot!

My mom sure has a thing about matching outfits!  Here's me with cousin Lukas.  I love that little Buddy.

And here I am with cousin Andrew, again matchie matchie!  Andrew has some skills... he tried crawling away from me!  Mommy says she doesn't want me learning that, but I took some notes, I think I can figure it out.

A little sampling of the cuteness that is me!

Spring at last!

Mmmm, first ice cream of the season!  Such a beautiful night we went to the park to play and enjoy.  Here's hoping for a lot more nights like this!

What could be....

What could be...

smarter than a 6 month old learning to sit?

fuzzier than our sweet boys head?

 sweeter than a sleeping baby?
cozier than a freshly bathed naked boy?

 cooler than a baby faux-hawk?

This is a print we have framed in Carter's room... this pretty much sums it up.

Those Eyes

Looking back at some old pictures I found these of Nicole.  Garsh she was cute!  I always get comments on my baby's eyes, Carter is no exception, but I think I got the most comments about these eyes.  We say that she has her Grandma Letkeman's eyes which is special because she also has her name: Helen.  Love this girl!

Mmmm.... Food

Here is Handsome waiting patiently... waiting for what, he doesn't know yet!

We decided that it was time for the little guy to start on some solid foods.  Right before he turned 6 months we got some rice cereal and the whole family came to the kitchen to watch the big event.  A SIDE NOTE: It's so fun to watch how much the big kids enjoy every little thing that Carter does.

Bib on ready to go.
First bite!
"What IS this stuff???"

I guess this face speaks for itself.  He was hardly impressed.

Twelve

Our girl is 12.  I don't know how it happened but it did.
She is a beautiful, smart, responsible and fun young lady.  We're so proud of her.

We had decided that once you were over 10, there would be no more birthday parties.  So she had a couple of good friends sleep over and Grandma and Grandpa came over.  We made this delish fruit pizza!    On her actual birthday, Papa and Dad's side of the family came over and we had some cupcakes.

About a month ago, Jayme got to go to her first NHL game!  Her and Daddy had AMAZING seats right behind the Jets bench.  They were right beside where the Jets players entered their locker room.  They had a great time, a special Daddy - Daughter night for sure!
